Regional Writers Showcase: Gods and Thieves by Rene Solivan
April 24, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Plays by Rochester-area writers, selected in cooperation with Writers & Books, are presented in a reading format on two Monday nights each spring. Each play is followed by a discussion with the playwright. One work from the spring Showcase will be selected to receive further rehearsal and development in the fall Festival of New Theatre.
Gods and Thieves by Rene Solivan. Julia is a 50-year-old administrative assistant in Hollywood who never made full use of her intellectual abilities. Her high-achieving sister and D1 university basketball coach, Robin, asks Julia to “help” her star player with his homework for a hefty fee. In this darkly comedic ethical quandary, Julia’s response to her sister’s fraud may have lasting effects she never could have anticipated.
