Listening to the Future Student Nomination Form

Please complete and submit this form for each student you’d like to nominate for Listening to the Future: An Evening of Prose and Poetry by Area High School Students — a collaboration between Rochester Spoken Word and Writers & Books. Students must be in 9th-12th grade at time of nomination, must be available to read on the evening of 4/2/2020, and must be nominated by a teacher/mentor. Past participants may be nominated, but first-time nominees will take precedence. (Past participants can be viewed here: 2017, 2018, 2019.) All nominations must be submitted by 11:59 pm EDT on 3/19/2020. Nominations will only be accepted from teachers/mentors with a direct relationship with the nominee. Nominators will be contacted with a list of selected nominees on or around 3/20/2020.

Twelve nominees will be selected to participate in the free event at Writers & Books on the evening of Thursday 4/2/2020. Those selected will have up to eight minutes to read single completed or partial piece of their own writing in front of a live audience. They will each receive a student-designed commemorative T-shirt for their participation.

PLEASE NOTE: Students must be nominated by a teacher/mentor. Students may not nominate themselves or other students.
