Speak Easy Turns 2!

Scott Seifritz Readings, Speak Easy, Uncategorized Birthday Party!, Local readers, Speak Easy

On Sunday, January 13, Speak Easy celebrated its 2nd birthday with a big party at Cheshire. Two years after kicking off it’s first show, Speak Easy is still going strong and continues to provide local writers and outlet to be heard. Over 100 different writers have crossed our stage since that first show, and that’s even with a constant stream of returning readers. This latest show featured an all-start cast of readers/performers who graced our stage in 2018. The sold-out crowd enjoyed great writing, prizes, party hats, and some delicious chocolate birthday cake. It’s safe to say a good time was had by all. Check out the pics below.

Next Up: Speak Easy is back on Sunday, February 10, with an open-topic reading. We’ll have a slate of mostly first-time readers taking the stage to share their short prose and poetry. It’ll be a great way to escape the winter doldrums. Tickets are available here.

Lineup for Speak Easy No. 25, Sunday 1/13/2019 at Cheshire:

  • Cake — Christine Green
  • Audience of One — George Steele
  • Excerpt from Transit Gloria — Robert Shelton
  • Karma — Marvelous Marvin
  • Excerpt from You are No Match for Me — Erin Julian
  • My Super Confession — Kevin Watt
  • Skeletons of Men — David Holloway
  • Learning to Fly — Dominique Spikes
  • Do I Love New York — Nadia Ghent
  • Secret Boyhood — Alex Sanchez

Special thanks to Scott Seifritz and Kevin Watt for Photography!
